Young Scientist Contest
Nominations
- Maximow prize "For research in the field of hematology, immunology and oncology";
- Demikhov prize "For research in the field of tissue engineering, artificial organs, and transplantology";
- Friedenstein prize "For research in the field of tissue regeneration and cell therapy".
Vladimir Demikhov is an experimental scientist, one of the founders of transplantology. For the first time in the world, he performed experimental operations on artificial heart transplantation, heterotopic cardiac transplantation into the thoracic cavity, cardiopulmonary transplantation, liver transplantation, orthotopic cardiac transplantation without artificial circulation, mammary-coronary bypass, and second-head transplantation in dogs.
Alexander Maksimov is a Russian scientist, a pioneer in hematology. The author of experimental and scientific substantiation of the unitary theory of hematopoiesis, introduced the concept of stem cells into science.
Alexander Friedenshtein - scientist, histologist, hematologist, immunologist. For the first time, he described and experimentally confirmed the existence of stem stromal cells in the bone marrow and lymphoid organs, which later received the international name mesenchymal stem (stromal) cells.
